Eating Right

Heard from a dear friend last week... here is what she said:

"Yesterday I went to the doctor for my yearly physical. My blood pressure was high, my cholesterol was high, I'd gained some weight, and I didn't feel so hot. My doctor said eating right doesn't have to be complicated and it would solve my physical problems. He said just think in colors... Fill your plate with bright colors... greens, yellows, reds, etc. I went right home and followed the Doctor's orders...
And sure enough, I felt better immediately. I never knew eating right could be so easy.
Also... note on "gender predictor poll" - Interestingly enough... the results for those that voted on the accuracy of the gender prediction chart was split equally between 100% - incorrect at least 2/3rds of the time!! So, for those preggie mommies out there... I guess I wouldn't put much stock in trying to use the Gregorian Calendar chart to determine what gender your baby is. LOL

We're Back Home!

It's good to be home again and have time to reflect on the privilege of recent travels we have enjoyed. I thought I'd share with you (if anyone is still checking my blog) some of the fun we've had traveling over the past weeks and months. From the Pacific, to the Gulf and then on to a two week visit with family in the Buckeye State...we've enjoyed some great times!
I've also been wondering what my Blogville friends have been up to...so hopefully this next week I'll slowly make my way through my blogroll and stop by for a visit!

For the first post in my "Travel Blog Series", (oh gosh-don't I sound so official-gheeze!) I'll share a few pics from our trip to the Texas Hill Country and to our Capitol City, Austin. This trip actually took place back in August (yes, I'm behind!) and was scheduled so we could attend the wedding of a special young lady who lived with us a few years ago for a period of time. The Lord has brought a wonderful man into her life and we are rejoicing with this sweet couple on His Faithfulness in their lives. Our daughters & SIL, Erin, Micah and Megan, were also able to attend the wedding and enjoyed spending some time together during that weekend.

After the wedding, Brad & I spent the weekend with some very dear, long-time friends. We don't get to see them nearly enough-maybe twice a year...but we can easily pick up where we left off. I love it when the Lord blesses us with friendships that endure over the long-haul.
Lindsey made such a beautiful Bride!!

I had fun catching a few pics of the event.

After the wedding reception, we stopped by the state capitol to see how it looks lit up at night. We got there just before they turned the lights off at midnight!

A view of the city from the capitol lawn.

The rest of the weekend was spent visiting with our very dear friends...wish we could see them more often! Love you guys!

Fall is Coming...Someday

If I could bring fall in just by "wishing"...it would arrive in Texas bigger than life. In reality, the air conditioner is still blasting to help curb the 90 degree temps and the 150% humidity. (well, at least it feels that way!!) Not to be defeated, I like to help create the "feeling of fall" by decorating our home with all of my favorite "fallish" items. And of course...by burning my FAVORITE fall scented candle by Yankee Candles-Spiced Pumpkin...yummmmm! Somehow I believe that it might help hasten the arrival of the season. So far, it is hotter than the dickens out...but I am ever hopeful! Besides, soon we will get a taste of the real thing when we travel to visit family in Ohio and enjoy time together camping, attending the BEST period craft show, visiting and hanging out. Ashley and Casey are driving down to meet us...so that is an extra special treat! I thought I'd share a pictorial tour with you in case you are also suffering from the "I need my fall fix" dilemma. Enjoy!

First off, this little guy greets you as you step onto our porch-WELCOME!
Our Front Door...

My Scarecrow friend beside a wooden pumpkin I made years ago...

The girls got me this adorable pumpkin votive candle holder last year to add to my fall decor collection. I burn Yankee Spiced Pumpkin votives in this on our kitchen counter...more of my favorite scent!!I LOVE candles burning...especially in the fall...A basket of plenty on the fireplace hearth in our new family room...Many of my decorations are purchased from Hobby Lobby during a 50% off sale! This one I found a basic wreath and added a few "extra" things to get the look I wanted...another Hobby Lobby find...More Spiced Pumpkin votives on the mantle...I enjoy having a mantle to decorate this year!!And yet more candles...

Can You Guess???

My, My, am I ever behind on visiting with you all via this blog! I have so much fun stuff to share with you...soon! Also, I missed my One Year Blogging Anniversary last week...as I was preparing for our trip here:

We have been enjoying a wonderful season of travel. I will be posting some pictures soon from our trips...stay tuned!!

Gregorian Baby Gender Predictor Chart

Ladies, this is pretty weird. I had never heard of anything like this before our daughter, Erin, introduced it to me last month. Being the curious person that I am, of course I tried it out. It was 100% correct on predicting each of our three daughters. Ok, I thought, this was just a fluke...so my sister tried it...correct, my girlfriend (mother of 5) tried it...also 100% correct! Now you get to try it on my new poll I put up for the next two months. Go to the side bar poll at the right and cast your vote. I don't know how it works...but it's kind of fun! Leave comments on this post to let us know how your family fared on the accuracy of the predictions. See the chart here: http://www.thelaboroflove.com/chart/pred.html
