This and That

This has been a busy week. Wednesday morning I spent the entire morning enduring that annual ritual that women my age subject themselves to. I was "privileged" to participate in a few extra "procedures", just to make sure everything is in order. So, after a morning of abuse (whimper) the medical prescription given to me by the technician was to go out to lunch. She thought I deserved it. Because I'm such an obedient patient, I obliged and treated myself to a Wendy's hamburger (with fries, of course). Now I'm wondering why I didn't go hog wild and purchase a Frosty milk shake as well. What was I thinking??The past two days I have done 3 "house shoots". This is in relation to my new business servicing the real estate industry. Basically, Realtors call me when they have a new house to list and I go capture "stills" (photos inside and out) for them to load onto the internet or brochures. These days over 80%f of potential home buyers search for their "dream house" on the internet. I continue to learn new things each day, so this has been keeping me busy. I am still spending a lot of time setting up "the business". I have also been trying to work my way through the task of decluttering piled up paperwork. Most days I am able to fit in practice time with my camera as well. Please don't ask me about my housework...sore subject. I'm keeping up with the basics, but that's about all.

My DH and I love to eat out, so last night he treated me to a wonderful dinner at a Cuban restaurant he recently learned about. Yummmmm!! He has helped me expand my horizons beyond the typical mid-western cuisine I was brought up with. Last night, among other things, I tried yucca and baked plantain for the first time. Plantain (pictured left) is a tropical plant in the banana family but tastes like a potato. Yucca is an evergreen plant with large white flowers and the state flower of New Mexico. (pictured right)

This weekend we will get to meet with Lindz, a young gal who lived with us for several months back in 2005. She and her fiancee will be in town for a friend's wedding on Saturday. We're looking forward to hooking up with them on Sunday. It will be nice to visit and meet this young man that has captured her heart. Will someone please tell me how these kids can grow up so fast?? Seems like yesterday my friends and I were nursing babies, changing diapers and stepping over toys in the living room. Now we are walking the long isle to "give away" these same babies for someone else to love and cherish, till death do they part. What these "babies" don't realise is that we don't ever really "give them away"...we just tuck our love a little deeper down in our hearts...all the while we get to welcome a new son or daughter into the family! Geeeesh, how does time fly by this fast?

Well, I need to get these pictures off to my clients. Enjoy your weekend! Blessings, Diane

I found it fascinating that 80% of people search for their homes on the internet! Who would have thought??
We have a huge yucca next door and I had no idea it was in anyway edible. It is home to our oriole feathered friends :)

LOL re: your cartoon!

When we sold our house in November/December, our buyer found us on the internet within a couple of days of listing. It was under contract about a week after listing. Sounds like your business has a good solid start!

Hmmm ~ I've had plantains before, but never yucca. Did you like them?

Lindsey and Beto found their home on the internet. Lindsey found it and knew that was the house she wanted. Sure enough, they bought it. It was neat because they were able to forward the photo's to us here in Michigan. Too exciting! Now in just a couple of days we will see it for the first time. We are trying to work in a couple of days in San Antonio. We are not sure if we can make it work with graduation and Beto's church commitments, but we are sure hoping.

I hope you are getting a good feel behind the camera. I hope to find Lindsey enjoying hers. Maybe I will come home with some fun photos.

"we just tuck our love a little deeper down in our hearts..." Loved this!!! Never thought about it like that but it sure says it well.

Glad your business is off and running. We use to be in the real estate business prior to 1980 things are so different now.

I would love getting inside all those houses to take pictures! LOL What a fun job!

We found our rental house online through the local paper's classified ads, and I like to go to realtor sites and look at the houses they have for sale. I'm not a bit surprised that so many people find their homes via the internet.

My dh and I are just entering the "grown up child" phase. Our oldest starts college in 4 weeks. Not marriage yet, but a step in the direction of being on his own. It's a lot harder to let them go than I realized it would be!

That is too funny!

BTW, I didn't realize you had posted because I forgot to update the RSS thingy! Duh...

This Blogspot blogging is just so different from the Xanga stuff. I am still trying to figure out how do I look for other Christian women to fellowship with? I didn't see where I could "search" for certain kinds of blogs or anything. Anyway.. I will have to e-mail you later also... (was it THIS weekend? I had thought you said the 10th?) I am experiencing "brain frog".
Love, Bee

Hahhahahahaha
I meant BRAIN FOG... not frog.. although it has been pretty wet out here!! :-D

P.S. I wonder why it didn't call me "Bee"?

Oh... I just figured it out.. it is because I had put the word "Welcome" above my profile pic over on my site.. well, that is just too weird, I'll have to go change it. haha

Alright, I am going to bed now!

I just did the doc thing too. And the testss. Whew! What an ordeal. Glad it is only once a year. I love your new name by the way. Scripture uses that picture of Christ as water on a parched earth so many times. It's refreshing just to think about. Blessings!

The annual visit. Yuck! I think you definitely deserved the Frosty - you better go back tomorrow!
I know what you mean about where does the time go? I still haven't caught my breath over the fact that after raising 4 daughters, I now have 2 sons-in-law to love. It's all good - it's just all so fast!

Buying and selling homes over the internet is the greatest thing.. When my daughters family sold their hme and bought another one I was able to see how she had staged her old home for sale...

then I was able to give her my much more experienced opinion of her new home as they were considering buying it... of course she took my advise on the one they bought! Ha Ha
