Family, Friends & Father's Day
It's been a week since I've posted here in blogville. Life has been full with lots of fun family time, friends and the wedding of a very special couple in our lives.
First of all... I didn't get to post anything for Father's Day, so I will once again say a special "I love You" to the three men in my life. First, my Dad....
I snapped this shot of him when we were together for a fun family camping trip last fall. I love this picture of my Dad...it captures "him" perfectly! His gentle eyes and smile, his quiet strength, his casual laid back personality, his love of family and spending time with us...of the simple things in life...and of camping! What wonderful memories of our times together. He is a patient teacher and is so talented in doing things with his hands. Evidence of his artistry and skill is scattered throughout our home...from a beautifully hand made wooden cradle that rocked our three babies to sleep...to the stones laid in our fireplace. Dad is a do-er and a giver. He has been a wonderful example of a godly father and husband to each of his six children. I love and appreciate this loving man and am thankful for the blessing of having him as my Father.

I am also thankful to have Brad's father in my life. Brad's parents have been married 53 years and counting! Dad clearly shows love for his family and the time he is able to spend with us. Even though we don't get to see our families as much as we would like, we know that they lift us up in prayer each day. Dad loves to golf, listen to classical music, sing (he has a wonderful voice), go on walks, and play cards with the family. He is always ready to make us laugh by sharing jokes with his unique sense of humor. Now that he has a new lap top computer...I think he is enjoying finding his way around the world wide web! I am so thankful for the wonderful job he and Mom did in raising their son to be the kind and loving man I have had the privilege of sharing life with for the past 28 years.
God has been gracious to Brad and I in giving us strong and godly men as examples in our lives. We love you both!!
And last, but certainly not least... To Brad, my husband, the father of our children and the man I am privileged to share my life with these past 28 years. In fact...today marks the 31st anniversary of the first day we met...so many years ago!! How could the time have flown by so quickly?? I am thankful that the Lord brought us together and has given us the blessing of expanding our family to include our three wonderful daughters. Thanks for being a godly husband and father, for the example you have set for our girls, and now our sons-in-love. I have always appreciated how you put your family first, yet at the same time you have been an amazing provider. I respect you and I am honored to be your helpmate in this journey we walk together. Thank you for choosing me! Thanks for being a great father to our girls. I love you!
Brad got a little extra spoiling from Ashley and Megan on Father's Day. They made him a tasty breakfast and we were able to spend some time together before Ashley and Casey had to head to the airport for the trip back to PA.

We really enjoyed having Ashley and Casey here for 7 days!! The wedding festivities went beautifully and we were blessed to enjoy special times with dear friends over the weekend. (More on that later) It was wonderful to get to spend so much family time together! We even brought out Casey and Ashley's wedding cake top from the freezer for the traditional one year tasting. We were all amazed at how good it tasted!! It was really neat to have them here.

You have a beautiful family! Praise God for the wonderful legacy of Godly manhood of these men in your life. The memories you make are precious and will be reflected on often I'm sure.
Bless you this day...
Great pictures. You can see the joy your family shares in the smiles.

Diane, now you are making ME cry! (Payback time after this weekend)
All the pictures are sweet and wonderful, but I especially love the one of your dad. That one is more than a snapshot..it's a portrait!
Hugs!
I, too, love the photo of your father, it's incredible. Great tribute to the men in your life.
You have been missed! I have been thinking of you everyday and praying that your time with the kids was wonderful. The pictures are a real treat. Your family is so beautiful. It's fun to see your girls...reminds me of our house.
We are blessed women who share the same heart, Diane. So glad to see your face back in "Bloggityville"
What a lovely family, and what a wonderful week.
I love the photo of your dad. The picture does capture everything you said about him. All pictures are lovely.
Blessings,
Trella
What lovely family photos Diane. I have to echo everyone else and agree that the photo of your Dad is just the best! His eyes show such kindness...
The family memories are certainly worth reliving many times!!
:)
So glad for the great time you all had together! Lovely pictures and wonderful tributes to the Dads in your life.
What a neat tribute to both your father and father in law and your husband. Your are truly blessed to have such wonderful men in your life.
Sounds like you had a fun time with family.
Both your daughters are beautiful as well as you too. It was so fun to see all the photos of everyone.
I checked the eyes of wonder blog and it's coming up with a date of June 20, 2007. How strange that it didn't do that for you... hmmm.
That sure sounded like fun. And may I say that your dad looks exactly like I would picture a wise, talented, quiet artist to be. Really. When I first saw his photo I thought "AUTHOR" right away. But it looks like he has his artistry in other areas. I bet his hands would give him away.
Anyway, how fun with the girls too. One of our sons came home for the weekend. It had been since Easter and we just loved having him here. Couldn't stop hugging on him.
OH, as for your comment to our late nights. Yes! We do seem to have something in common. Did you know that difficulty sleeping is CLASSIC sign of estroget deprivation. Eeek.
What beautiful pictures! And it was a blessing reading the tributes to the three special men in you life. : )
What great pics! And loving tribute!!
I love the pic of your dad. (I always thought he looked like Kenny Rodgers when he was younger. Of course he still might ... 'cept ol Kenny had too much plastic surgery. I saw his pic when I was looking for Hollywood examples... wow.. plastic surgery on men looks UGLY!) lol
Your family is GORGEOUS! I absolutely love those photos. You all look so full of life and love.
What a sweet tribute to your men and great photos of your family, Diane!
Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog. Feel free to visit anytime. :-)
Have a great Friday and a wonderful and blessed weekend. :-)

Diane

Thanks for visiting with me and taking the time to comment....please come again....Betty
Hi Diane, thank you so much for stopping by the back porch!
Your family is beautiful! Love all the wonderful photos. I have a fondness for black and white photography. The photo of your father is great!
I use Picasa2 and Photofiltre photo editing programs. The "picture pile" grid of the flowers was done in Picasa2. I think the link is www.picasa2.com. If that doesn't work, google search will find it. I found Photofiltre through a friend at one of my decorating groups. I use it for frames. There are other options, there, I haven't tried yet!
I enjoyed my visit to your blog!

Everyone has already said it, but your family photos are incredible. They surpass simple family snapshots!
The picture of your dad is wonderful...and your girls are so beautiful- and look like you!
So glad your family had such a wonderful time together this past week!
Blessings!
What a lovely family God has blessed you with. Thanks for sharing them with us! God is good!
My oh my! I'm grinning from ear to ear! Your two Dads are treasures. You're immensely blessed! (Your own father has a particularly endearing demeanor.)
Your girls are beauties, and I'm looking forward to hearing more about the family wedding. I seem to recall that the tradition of waiting one year before eating the top of the cake has something to do celebrating the baptism of the first baby. Is that accurate? In this day of family planning (and varying baptism practices), I think the tradition has largely gone by the wayside, but it's a romantic thought, isn't it? :~)
I'm glad you're savoring the memories of your week with your lovely family. Hugs!
