Favorite New Strawberry Dessert
I thought I'd share my favorite new dessert as of late. With strawberries in season and usually on "special" at the local supermarket...I have enjoyed making this easy and "showy" treat.
I purchase a ready made angel food cake, 2 or 3 pkg strawberries, and ingredients to make the Romanoff Dip. Early in the day I cut the angel food cake in bite sized cubes and return to the original plastic container until serving time. I also make up the recipe of Romanoff dip and stick it in the frig so flavors have a chance to blend. Then I wash, dry, hull, and quarter (or cut in half-depending on desired size you want) the strawberries... being careful to pick out the "showiest" ones to leave whole for topping each individual dessert. I lightly sprinkle the cut berries with about one teaspoon of sugar, stir and then refrigerate until serving time.

This dessert is very impressive when served in a stemmed glass with layers as follows: layer bite sized angel food cake, topped with cut strawberries, and a large spoonfull of Romanoff Sauce and then repeat. The top spoonfull of Romanoff sauce should resemble a pile of soft whipped cream in the center as shown. Top with a whole strawberry. Enjoy!!!
LaMadeleine’s Strawberries Romanoff

½ c. heavy cream
3 T. sugar
Serve with:
4 cups (2 Pints) fresh strawberries
Using a rubber spatula, fold the cream carefully into the sour cream mixture until well blended. Just before serving, rinse the berries and trim off the green stems with a sharp paring knife. Put the berries into stemmed wine glasses and top with the Romanoff sauce. Serves 4.

Sounds and looks yummy! Makes me want to go buy the ingredients right now:)
Thanks so much for sharing.
Looks great and I'm sure it tastes wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

I have some lovely fresh strawberries. I know my husband would love this one :)
Yummy! I just made something similar to this tonight. My recipe called for cream cheese, 10x sugar, cool whip and vanilla instead. But I put that cream on the angel food cake and then topped it with strawberries that were added into a water and cornstarch mix which got thick - you also add strawberry jello to that. I put it in a trifle dish and it was very yummy.
Great minds think alike :)
This sounds delicious. I'm going to have to try it sometime soon...as I love both angel food cake and strawberries.
That does look good and I just bought some strawberries!!
BTW, I responded on your "memory" comment over at my place. ;-)
That looks absolutely delicious. And healthy too. Perfect for Memorial Day!
Thanks for reading through my 100 things and for your very kind comment. Have a great weekend.
Yummy! Could you send some over? Thanks for your comment on Jen's graduation. The photo is not so great. She was hurrying to catch all of her friends one last time and didn't have time for parent pictures. My husband has photographed professionally for almost 30 years. This, however, was snapped with a Cannon Sureshot, haha! All these years of pro-pictures and it came down to one picture of her with me and the one with the three of us my dad took and it was blurry. Awwww! My husband has given up his business this year due to all the digital stuff and he did all film work. He will probably sell his equipment and get into more digital for fun. Our daughter in Texas loves photography and in August we will bring some of his stuff to her as she is learning and getting pretty good.
What kind of work do you enjoy and what type of camera do you use?
Hey Ginger, to answer your question, I shoot digital with a Canon 20D. I am still working through the "technical side" of photography...but I'm determined and armed with a pile of books. I'm sorry to hear your husband is giving up his business. Does he not want to just switch over to digital? I know my weakness is getting the lighting/settings correct with digital. It's much less forgiving than film. I do some free lance work; weddings, friends and family portraits, and now I may be getting into real estate photography. I am also trying to teach myself Photoshop. I am ALWAYS drawn to nice photography! I also have a small Cannon Power Shot 700 that I keep in my purse for "emergencies"! Thanks for stopping by! Diane
I'll try to post my recipe on Monday! Yes, I did make the graphic - it has become a fun, new hobby. The picture came from my clipart selections from MS Publisher, so I tweaked it from there and made it my own! :) I have a few others I've done - I like to put my name at the bottom of them, so if people want to borrow them, that is still there! I've taken a few pictures of flowers around my home, that I hope to turn into graphics in the future. I'm going to try to post one every weekend! So, stay tuned, lol!! :)
Diane, I smiled at your comment about teaching yourself photoshop. Dave is doing the same thing.
You will have to check out my daughter's work at http://www.lindseyjoybells.blogspot.com/
I will probably post some of her work this coming week.
Dave will always love his medium format camera and his Nikon 35mm, but will enjoy digital for the fun of learning.
This recipe sounds delicious!
I will have to try.
